My name's Mike, and I've been playing video games since before I could talk.

Video games have always been a big part of my life:
They're how I've made most of my friends, they're how I decompress after a stressful day, and—maybe most important of all—they're what I'm good at.

I'm a completionist at heart. I've always had a fascination with completing the hardest challenges in a given game, or having a maxed-out save file, or pushing a game to its limits. I'd always been the video game know-it-all of my peers, and I've always been able to put my money where my mouth is.

While I've lost a bit of my finger dexterity and reaction time over the years, I still have a lot of skill at these old games, so I'd like to prove it while I'm able. Enter RetroAchievements: a community-driven platform that awards achievements for all of the tough challenges that those old video games have to offer.

I think that retro video games evoke a unique sense of nostalgia that most people are able to immediately recognize and connect to. It's for that reason that I began actively hunting RetroAchievements in as many retro games as I can, as well as streaming my adventures on Twitch for all to see. It's really fun to be able to chat with people from all over the world, from all different walks of life, about the video games we grew up with and the memories we all share.

What is RetroAchievements?

RetroAchievements is a dedicated community of people who create, design, and program achievements for retro video games.Think Xbox Live or Steam achievements, but for your favorite classic games.The RetroAchievements service is baked into RetroArch and other special emulators, and achievements will automatically trigger once the proper conditions are met in-game!

What is RetroArch?

RetroArch is a clean, organized front-end for various different emulators.RetroArch neatly sorts all of your ROMs into their own categories per platform, allowing you to easily find what you want to play.It also boasts some advanced features like shaders, rollback netplay, rewind/fast-forward, and a runahead feature that virtually eliminates input lag!

Do you go for achievements in Hardcore mode?

Yes, I aim to obtain all achievements in Hardcore mode, or not at all.This means NO save states, NO rewind, and NO cheats!Achievements can be earned either in Hardcore mode or in Softcore mode (Softcore mode allows the features mentioned above).

What is the Brew Queue?

The Brew Queue is an amazing Twitch extension that gives you a say in what game you'd like to see me cheevo hunt next!Submit games to the queue that you'd like to see me tackle, and vote on games already in the queue to bump them up. I'll occasionally pull a game from the top of the queue, and I'll hunt that game's achievements on stream for your enjoyment!
